This past Friday night, FIGHT CHURCH with a team of 5 strong, including a brand new volunteer, worked the TUFF-N-UFF event at the SouthPoint Hotel & Casino and we had a great time! This was a new venue for the promotion and we didn’t know what to expect. When we got down below the arena where the fighter prep area was located, we realized that we were at the rodeo! Not really, but the “hallway” leading to the locker room was carpet laid on top of a dirt floor lined with curtains and on the other side of the curtains there were all kinds of animal stalls and shoots. It was pretty cool, but didn’t smell great.

Anyway, the evening was incredible. As usual, we issued gloves to the fighters, helped get wraps signed off by the Athletic Commission, staged fighters, collected gloves, etc. Of course, while taking care of those duties, we were able to talk with and build relationships with fighters, coaches, corner folks, teammates and more. We also had the honor of praying with a few fighters before and/or after their fights.

TEAM THROWDOWN was there showing love to FIGHT CHURCH sporting our logo on their team shirts. Big thanks to our friend Tha Rooster! There were many other teams represented such as Anarchy, Legends, Wand, Xtreme Couture, 10th Planet, One Kick, Fryklund and Hard Knocks. Like always, there were plenty of pro fighters in the back with each team prepping teammates/students and getting them ready to compete.

Our friend and favorite cutman, Adrian Rosenbusch, was working hard turning wrappin’ hands into an absolute artform. At the risk of forgetting someone, a few of the pros/coaches in the mix were Ryan Couture, Jimmy Jones, John Wood, Tony Fryklund, Nick Blomgren, Eddie Bravo, Tyson Griffin, Kui Gonsalves-Kanoho, Cody McKenzie, Matt Riddle, Shawn Fitzsimmons, Cameron Diffley and many more. Even bumped into Frank Trigg a couple of times!

FIGHT CHURCH always has a great time serving the MMA community in whatever way possible and providing the only chaplain program the sport has here in Vegas. Thanks so much to all our volunteers. Can’t wait for the next event!

2012 is going to be incredible!

Just a quick update…

Greetings from beautiful, sunny Las Vegas, NV!  We hope your holiday season was amazing!  2012 is going to be an incredible year for FIGHT CHURCH.  The sport of MMA is exploding and things here in Vegas, the hub of this international sports phenom, are going nuts.  There are more and more MMA events, more and more MMA promotions, and more and more MMA athletes!  The MMA gyms are busting at the seams and many coaches are branching out and opening new facilities.

Here at FIGHT CHURCH we have our work cut out for us.  We are excited and thankful to be working in all 4 of the biggest gyms here in town, but are planning to double that this year by expanding to some of the other gyms that are growing.  We will be recruiting and training many more volunteers so we are able to work at as many events as possible.

Our website will be undergowing some changes in the near future.  In 2011, we had plans to do more video and post more regular updates.  Unfortunetly, we were unable to post nearly as often as we would had hoped and video proved to be more of a challenge than we thought.  However, we are on track now and have even began filming some items.  We have a couple of things in the works and our goal is to post a few different things every week.  Be on the look out!

We are finalizing some very specific goals for this year and will be sharing them with you very soon.  In the meantime, we are super excited about this year and the opportunity to continue ministering to the MMA community.  Thank you so much for your support in 2011… Let’s Fight the Good Fight!

Great Guy… Great Cause!

Check out Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler Jr.’s new website…  www.blessedthreads.com.  He is a great guy, a man of Faith and we are proud to call him one of our friends here in the MMA community in Las Vegas!

I caught up with new Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler and was able to ask him a few questions…

Just Last week, I was able to attend the FIGHT SUMMIT event at the Rio Hotel & Casino.  It was a great opportunity to meet a ton of people in the MMA industry and, more importantly, the local MMA community.  The event was well put together and there were some very good sessions.  In addition, there were a ton of relevant vendors.  I am looking forward to seeing where all the connections and relationships lead!  Once again FIGHT CHURCH was out & about being seen.  Big thank you to Mike Hauben for inviting us to be a part of this incredible event!

Not too long ago, a pastor asked Joe Rogan about how to become the UFC’s Chaplain… this is an uncensored video of their exchange.

This video illustrates the reason we are so excited about what we have been able to accomplish over the last year with MMA chaplaincy through FIGHT CHURCH!  Things are going great!  However, this is also the reason we need your prayers and support to keep fighting the good fight!

Amazing Randy Couture Art!

Various autographed items!

So, here’s the deal…

FIGHT CHURCH is looking for some partners to help out with our 2012 budget.  We know that things are tight for a lot of people right now, that there are a ton of other great organizations out there and we just want to make sure that we take care of everyone who choose to join us in “the good fight”.

The reality is that in order to continue the amazing ministry we are doing here in Las Vegas with the MMA community, we need several individuals and churches to help us out on a monthly basis.  For the last year, we have operated with just a handful of incredible people and one church helping us out.  Despite having limited resources and a bare bones budget, all of FIGHT CHURCH’s goals and expectations have been blown away!  That is why we are super excited to see what the Lord does this year with the addition of many more FIGHT CHURCH Fight Club members!

Now is the time to join!

So, what’s up with the pics?  Simple.  The super cool framed Randy Couture poster that is autographed by both Randy and the artist will go to the next person who signs up to be a $100 or more monthly sponsor.  The next 10 people to sign up as a $35 or more monthly sponsor will receive one of the other autographed items.  In addition, all monthly sponsors will get a FIGHT CHURCH t-shirt!

If you are interested in one of these opportunities, have any questions, or just want to chat, please send me an e-mail at josh@fightchurch.com or give me a call at 702-494-8106!

I had the honor of working at the most recent Superior Cage Combat event here in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena.  It was an amazing event featuring some of MMA’s top up and coming professional fighters.  It was an amazing opportunity to rub shoulders with the fighters, talk with trainers/coaches, and continue to solidify FIGHT CHURCH’s place in the MMA community.

One exciting detail about the event was the victory of Bristol Marunde.  He advanced his pro MMA record to 15-6 and won the SCC Championship title in the 185lbs weight class.  Bristol is an incredible athlete and a man of Faith.  He has been a friend to FIGHT CHURCH and we will be catching up with him for an interview very soon!

SCC is a great promotion that has a tremendous future!  They plan to put an event on every other month.  I have been invited back to work at the next event in January and am very much looking forward to it!  Get your tickets as soon as you can!

FIGHT CHURCH stepped up and ran the backroom at the TUFF-N-UFF event on 11-11-11 at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino… it was a great night!

We had 5 people working the event!  That’s the most help we have ever had.  FIGHT CHURCH was able to work both the red & blue corner locker rooms, stage fighters and work ringside.  A big “thank you” goes out to all our volunteers.  You guys did a great job!  Every event we work, every connection we make and every relationship built or deepend leads to an opportunity for lives to be changed.

More pics and details on the way!

This is an interview we did with professional MMA fighter Justin Wren a couple of weeks ago…
