My Predictions for UFC 120…

Well, my predictions for the last WEC event didn’t go too bad.  I only had one wrong pick, but I still have to warn you that I am not good at predictions.  With that said, let’s do this!

UFC 120 does not appear to be the strongest card and even though fans probably won’t be as emotionally invested as with a card filled with big names, I think there will still be some great fights.  I will start with the bottom end of the card and work my way to the main event…

Wilks vs. Patrick

I have to be honest.  I have not been that impressed with Wilks.  I hope he has not been happy as well and comes out for the fight of his life.  I think that will be the case.  I think he feels a little pressure to do something.  With the UFC getting bigger and the weight classes getting deeper, he has to know that being cut is a real possibility.  With that being said, I know that Patrick is going to come into the octagon ready to rock.  So, this should be a great fight.  Two hungry guys, toe to toe!

Winner:  Patrick by submission or decision

Kongo vs. Browne

I am not a big fan of Kongo.  He drives me crazy.  You never know what you’re going to get.  He could come out and amaze you with his stand up.  His very next fight he looks horrible.  Reminds me of some NFL quarterbacks… I won’t mention any names.  Browne is good and he will battle it out.  He has the power to catch Kongo and put him down.  Should be a great exchange, but I think Kongo is going to have an on night.

Winner:  Kongo by TKO or decision

Hathaway vs. Pyle

Pyle is good.  He is well-rounded, has a lot of experience and knows what he is doing.  he is comfortable on his back or putting guys there.  Hathaway is young, strong and ready.  This should be a battle!  I have a feeling it will go back and forth a little bit.  Hathaway swinging and wanting to clip Pyle.  Pyle returning fire and looking for a submission.  Eventually Pyle will get rocked, things will go to the ground, Pyle will attempt some subs, Hathaway will fight through and end it with strikes.

Winner:  Hathaway by TKO

Hardy vs. Condit

This is going to be the main event!  These guys will go at it.  I can’t wait to see this fight.  Should be amazing and could go a million different ways.  Condit wants to submit Hardy, but so did GSP!  There should be some back and forth, as well as, some big strikes and crazy submission attempts.  Both guys are going to work hard to stay alive and it may go the distance.  When it is all said and done, I just can’t imagine Hardy not winning in the end.

Winner:  Hardy by decision

Bisping vs. Akiyama

This isn’t much of a “main event”, but I think it will surprise a lot people and turn out to be a good fight.  I think these guys are going to slug it out and if Akiyama is getting the worst of the exchanges, he will try to take it to the ground.  Bisping is tough, but doesn’t have that one punch power.  From what i have seen Akiyama can take whatever “the count” can dish out.  If Akiyama can hit Bisping early, he will put him down.  If he doesn’t, I think this fight will be crazy fun and might end up in the hands of the judges.  This is not good for Akiyama.  Bisping has won some ridiculous decisions.  Plus, with this fight being in front of Bisping’s fellow Brits…

Winner: Akiyama by TKO or decision!

Welcome

Vegas has always been a big fight town, but over the last 10 years it has become the Mixed Martial Arts capital of the world!  There are more fight promotions, teams, gyms, coaches, fans, stores, and events here than anywhere else!  Despite MMA being the fastest growing sport on the planet, it has not been embraced by any major ministry.

We intend to change all that!  We are working hard to build genuine relationships within the MMA community and become a fixture there by providing chaplaincy to gyms, teams and fighters.

The other parts are diverse and ever changing because it has to be. This thing is huge!   It includes the fighters, of course, but also coaches, trainers, managers, agents, gym owners, ring girls, MMA store owners, referees, supplement/gear company owners, bloggers, fight press members, the fans, all of their families, and the list goes on.

Ultimately, we want to meet people where they are and help them with whatever it is that they need.  It doesn’t matter whether it is a home cooked meal, a couch to crash on, someone to officiate a wedding, someone to talk to over coffee, a sparring partner, spiritual guidance, help w/ a flat tire, prayer before a fight, or fight sponsorship.

Every day people pack their entire life into their car, leave everything that is familiar to them behind, and drive to Vegas hoping to be the next big MMA superstar…   We want to be here for them.

Much more to come… we are just getting started.
